Meet Deb Agnew

Fork in the Road Wellness

Strategic Psychotherapist

Clinical Hypnotherapist

BSc Psych l Dip Psychoth l Dip Hyp

If you’re tired of feeling unwell and want to feel better, not someday, but now, you’re in the right place.

I’m a qualified Solution-Focused Strategic Psychotherapist and Clinical Hypnotherapist, with advanced training from the Institute of Applied Psychology in Sydney, at the forefront of the strategic approach.  I have a 4-year Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology from Canada’s esteemed McGill University.

In addition to my private practice, I work at the Black Dog Institute, a world-leading mental health research organisation, promoting the prevention and treatment of anxiety and depression. This helps inform my work, giving you access to the latest science and evidence in creating better mental health, as well as effective digital tools, resources and strategies.

Woman walking along a forest path, symbolising a health turning point and moving in a new direction

I started Fork in the Road Wellness to help people at a crossroads with their health - facing a diagnosis, disease, injury, trauma, loss, chronic condition, or escalating symptoms - reclaim their wellbeing and take back control of their life.

The people I work with are often sick and tired of being sick and tired. Their body and mind are telling them that something must change, yet they feel stuck, unable to do it, unsure where to turn, or exhausted from trying approaches that haven’t worked. They’re ready for a holistic, mind–body approach that creates real change from the inside out.

People come to me with a wide range of challenges including: breast cancer, diabetes, chronic pain, auto immune conditions, hypertension, heart disease, anxiety, depression, stress, burnout, migraines, gut and microbiome issues, menopause, obesity, weight loss, insulin sensitivity, sleep issues,  and many others.

A professional with a deeply personal understanding

I know what it's like. I've been there too.

To feel like something isn’t right with your health and not have clear answers.
Or to be managing a diagnosis, ongoing symptoms, or a condition that isn’t improving the way you hoped.

I understand the frustration and exhaustion that comes with doing everything you can.

Trying to eat better.
Manage stress.

Move more.

And still not getting the results you need.

I also know what it’s like to feel passed from one specialist to another without real answers.
To feel unheard.
Or left to figure it out on your own.

And how soul destroying it is to want to change, to know you need to, but still not be able to make it stick.

Some of the health turning points I've navigated myself include:

  • Reversing pre-diabetes, overcoming emotional eating, losing weight, and creating a more sustainable and nourishing relationship with food.
  • Managing a degenerative back condition and chronic pain while rebuilding strength, mobility, and confidence in daily life.
  • Recovering from burnout, perfectionism, and all-or-nothing patterns around work and self-care.
  • Working through severe, persistent migraines and learning to support healing through a deeper mind–body approach to regulate my nervous system.
  • Navigating diverticulitis, gut and microbiome issues, and making significant changes to my nutrition and lifestyle to support long-term health.

These experiences shape how I work.

Not just focusing on what needs to change, but helping you understand why it’s been so hard, and supporting you to create change that actually lasts.
